A Shah Rukh Khan or a Salman Khan film comes with a guarantee of a good opening at the box office. Even the weakest of these superstars’ films earn a great amount keeping all those who have invested in the film, happy. However, this year has been different. Salman Khan faced a dull moment after years of stupefying success with the underperformance of Tubelight. Then, it was the turn of Shah Rukh Khan to face flak for Jab Harry Met Sejal which, according to trade pundits, is one of his weakest films.
Salman Khan, it was reported, had compensated his distributors for the losses they face. Now the focus is on Shah Rukh who it appears faces the pressure of refunding the money. According to a report in Financial Express, NH Studioz, which had acquired the film’s rights in India wants SRK to return some of his earnings to cover up for the losses they incurred.
Especially after Salman’s gesture, distributors are hoping Shah Rukh would follow suit. While the actor hasn’t confirmed it yet, the report says NH Studioz, finds itself in the middle of terrible losses which led them to convey their message to Shah Rukh. Apparently, King Khan had returned 50 per cent of the proceeds to the distributors of Dilwale which similarly underperformed at the box office.
In a year of flops, the Imtiaz Ali directed Jab Harry Met Sejal that had Shah Rukh and Anushka Sharma in the lead, only managed to cross the 50 crore mark after its release.
